The International School of Tianjin opened the doors of a converted downtown Tianjin villa to some 20 children in Grades 1 to 4 on 5 September 1994. In 2001 IST relocated to purpose built facilities on a 7.2-hectare campus in Weishan Nan Lu in the city’s southeast. Student enrollment currently averages around 450 students.
Founding of IST at the original campus at #6 Mu Nan Dao in the Wudadao (5 Roads) on the September 5th 1994.
Initial accreditation granted by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
Inauguration of the new 12,000m2 purpose built Qin Building at the new, and current, 7.2 hectare 22 Weishan Lu campus in Jinnan District.
Graduation of the Class of 2005, the first IST/IB Diploma Grade 12 Graduating Class.
Joint accreditation granted by both WASC and the Council of International Schools (CIS) making IST the first and to this day only doubly-accredited international school in Tianjin City. Re-authorization of all three IB Programmes.
Inauguration of the stunning new 18,000m2 purpose-built Han Building.
Construction of new Design Center (Machine Room, CAD Lab, Design Classroom, Green Screen and Recording Studio, 2x IT Classrooms, and Robotics Lab).
IST turns 25!
Two new bridges installed connecting the original Qin and newer Han Buildings.
Full interior renovation of Han Building. Upgrade to exterior of Qin Building. Installation of new Middle School Playground.
